Continuing up the Alaskan Highway we cross I to the pacific time zone at about Pink Mountain, BC
We pass Fort St John which was the southern Alcan Highway camp for the army construction workers in 1943. It's amazing that the 1200+ miles from Dawson Creek thru British Columbia, The Yukon Territory and interior Alaska to Delta Junction in 18 months.
We arrive in Fort Nelson, BC at 1:30 PM PDT. At this point the road turn west as we head from northern BC to Watson Lake, Yukon Territory. We stop for the night a Toad River Lodge and RV park on the Alaskan Highway in Toad River, BC. The menu at the lodge (think roadside gas station with one room log cabins) was either a $25 hamburger or a $25 bowl of chili fries and drinks were not included. We ate in the trailer and had Tuckaway cheese burgers, chips and ice cold diet coke.
